The delicate finishing touches
My focus is on serving the record and bringing the vision to life
When I start working on a project, I'm a fresh pair of ears. By that point, the artist and producer have usually lived with the song for weeks or months, and every choice in the demo is there for a reason. My job is not to reinvent the record. It's to respect the decisions that were made before I got involved and bring out the best version of what's already there.
My philosophy walking into the studio is simple: leave your ego at the door. Mixing is a collaborative process, not a race to get approved on V1. I would rather take the time to get it right together than rush a first pass.
Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up in Curaçao, where I started taking singing classes as a toddler. Singing was never something I wanted to pursue, but those classes trained my ear and taught me how a voice works, which shapes how I record and mix vocals to this day.
At 11, I moved to the United States, and that is when I found what I did want to pursue. I got interested in production and recording, and started buying gear with money I made DJing birthday parties for friends and family. Before long I was recording songs for classmates and friends in my bedroom.
Around 14, I moved back to Curaçao, where I had the chance to work with Renard Hurtado, who ran a local live sound company. He taught me a great deal about mic placement and analog signal flow. Just as important, I saw how well he took care of artists and how much pride he took in his work. Those lessons strengthened my foundation in audio and still guide how I work.
After living briefly in Spain, I returned to the States to attend Full Sail University, where I earned my bachelor's and master's degrees. From there I interned at Ty-Fy Studios, then went on to freelance as a producer and mix engineer.
Since then, I've worked with artists and brands around the world across music, media, and commercial projects. My work has been released and featured through outlets including Universal Music, ESPN, and BET. Projects I've mixed and mastered have charted on Apple Music and iTunes in multiple countries and received radio airplay in the United States and abroad.
These days I'm working out of ID Labs in Pittsburgh, bringing the same care to every project.
